The goal of the PADI Instructor Development Course is to prepare instructor candidates to function as PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors. The Instructor Development Course is designed to further develop the leadership and teaching abilities of candidates to instructor level and prepare them to begin teaching PADI courses after successful completion of a PADI Instructor Examination. And with a permanent Course Director only teaching for Buddies, you’ll get the benefit of his experience and knowledge resulting in the best diving instruction available.
Buddies is a family run dive centre owned by Martin & Karen since 2009. The centre in the heart of Bugibba, on the north west of Malta. Martin the Course Director is in charge of the training and day to day running of the centre. Our team of hugely experienced instructors have built a reputation for excellent training and service, whilst never forgetting that diving is supposed to be fun!
Why choose Buddies for your Instructor internship?
We offer a comprehensive 3 month internship, where your first month as a Divemaster you will spend your days shadowing our instructors and learning how our dive centre runs. We will also prepare you for the IDC, including academics training and exam practice. We will ensure your skills are of the highest quality before you start your instructor training. As a PADI Career Development Centre we are not interested in ticking boxes, we want to train our Instructors to be part of the dive industry. Many of our instructor candidates then continue to work for us at Buddies, including our senior instructor Elka. We not only teach you the IDC curriculum and fully prepare you for your exams but you will become a valued member of the team. You will learn about dive planning, guiding, cylinder filling, equipment care and every other aspect of working at a busy custom centric dive centre. Once you have qualified as an instructor, you will join the team for 2 months and will work alongside our experienced instructors. Not just gaining valuable experience but also gaining certifications to help you towards the next step in your career.
What does the Internship involve?
The internship is a 3 month agreement. The first month you will join the team and work as a divemaster, learning how the dive centre runs. You will then take your IDC and IE. After this you will work as an instructor alongside our staff. You will be guiding and teaching.
